The ResilEast programme combines the energy economy and national defence needs of eastern Finland in a completely new way. ResilEast is a concrete programme of measures to promote the economy, employment and defence of the whole country, supporting the policies of the Growth Series, the Government's Eastern Finland Programme and the EU's White Paper on resilience in EU countries.

The ResilEast programme will be officially launched at the Eastern Finland Energy Days on 13-14 May in Leppävirta. The programme will be presented by Jari Sistonen, hydrogen entrepreneur and Chairman of the Board of U-Cont Oy.

The programme has already attracted a lot of media attention. Helsingin Sanomat interviewed Jami Holtar, CEO of Vetylaakso Finland, and reported on 3.5:

"The new energy infrastructure would be able to help defence and the needs of the armed forces at the border. We're not exactly rebuilding the Salpalinja, but we're going green," says CEO Jami Holtari.

Network News also reported on the issue. Jarmo Lindberg (MP), ex-commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, raises the idea of using wind turbines in the defence of the eastern border. Lindberg comments on the issue on the news service X, referring to a Hesar news item:

"I've been saying this for just under a decade. Instead of preventing air control to Russia, let's turn it to our advantage. Simple," Lindberg commented.

The programme has been developed by Jari Sistonen from U-Cont Oy, research director Petteri Laaksonen from LUT University and Lieutenant General Arto Räty from the Ministry of Defence.
