EU provides €34 million in financial support for Finnish photovoltaic projects

3Flash Finland, a member of the Finnish Hydrogen Valley, received €5.7 million in EU support for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant.

The European Commission has granted €34 million in aid to seven Finnish photovoltaic projects. One of the beneficiaries (€5.7 million) is 3Flash Finland, a member of the Finnish Hydrogen Valley. The aid will be used to build a photovoltaic power plant in Jorois.

The support is part of the EU's Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM). Projects are expected to be completed between 2027 and 2028.

The beneficiaries are:

- Laivakankaan Solar Park, Tornio: €4.2 million to convert a former 78 hectare gravel extraction site into a solar power plant.
- Lamminneva Solar Park, Lappajärvi: €3.5 million to use a disused peat production area for solar energy production.
- Isoneva solar park, Suonenjoki: €5.6 million to convert a disused peat production area into a solar power plant.
- Lakiasuo solar power plant in Kouvola: €7.7 million to build an industrial-scale solar power plant using the 150 ha Lakiasuo and Heposaari peat production areas.
- JoSoleilTwo, Joroinen: €5.7 million for the construction of a solar power plant
- Lålby Solar Park, Kristiinankaupunki: €5.9 million to convert a municipal waste and ash landfill site into a solar park.
- Peittoo solar power plant in Pori: €1.1 million for the construction of a solar power plant on a material handling site.

RENEWFM support aims to increase EU renewable energy production and promote cross-border cooperation between Member States. The funding mechanism was established by the Commission in 2020.
