The hydrogen year 2026 got off to a flying start in Tampere on January 14–15 at one of Northern Europe's most significant hydrogen industry events: Hydrogen Summit & Expo. Finland's Hydrogen Valley was prominently involved in networking and promoting investment opportunities in eastern Finland.
The Tampere Exhibition Center was filled with an international atmosphere of energy for the future. The popularity of the Hydrogen Summit & Expo event has grown steadily, and this year it cemented its position as the focal point of the hydrogen industry. Numerous key players in the hydrogen value chain were in attendance, from energy companies and plant suppliers to technology start-ups and universities.
The event brought together companies, decision-makers, investors, and experts from over 20 countries. The program focused on EU regulations, financing, and the latest technological innovations, such as synthetic fuels and hydrogen storage.
Representatives of Hydrogen Valley Finland participated in numerous discussions and bilateral meetings at the Hydrogen Valley Finland stand during the event. The focus was on communicating the strategic role of eastern Finland in the national and European hydrogen economy.
The Hydrogen Summit & Expo demonstrated that Finland is increasingly moving from talk to action. We were particularly pleased with the great interest shown in the wind power potential of eastern Finland and the possibilities for carbon dioxide capture. These are critical pieces of the puzzle as we build a high-value hydrogen economy, commented Jami Holtari, CEO of Finnish Hydrogen Valley.
