The government has proposed an investment credit for large-scale investors in a climate-neutral economy. Business Finland will open the tax credit for distribution at a date to be announced.
Investment projects in renewable energy production and energy storage, low-carbon industrial production processes and energy efficiency improvements, and the production of equipment, components and raw materials that are strategic for the transition to a climate-neutral economy are eligible.
A company is eligible for the investment credit if it carries out a large-scale investment in a climate-neutral economy in Finland with eligible investment costs of at least EUR 50 million.
The investment credit is granted by Business Finland. You must apply to Business Finland before starting work on the investment project.A parallel form of aid to the investment credit is an investment grant for large clean transition investments. The application for the investment grant is open from 13 January to 14 March 2025.
Entitlement to the investment credit is granted to a company that meets the conditions for the tax credit for large-scale climate-neutral investments in Finland:
- energy production from renewable sources and energy storage
- low-carbonisation of industrial production processes and energy efficiency measures, or
- sectors that are strategic for the transition to a climate-neutral economy.
